Kansas City, MO (February 29, 2012) – The Salvation Army is providing support to the town of Harveyville, Kansas after a tornado damaged much of the community late last night.
A team of Salvation Army emergency disaster service (EDS) volunteers based out of Topeka has arrived in town with a mobile feeding kitchen to provide meals, snacks and drinks to first responders, survivors and clean-up crews. The Salvation Army is also offering emotional and spiritual support and will remain on the scene to identify on-going needs in the community.
“We are here to serve in whatever way we can,” said Dee Smith, director of emergency disaster services for The Salvation Army. “And we will not leave until all the needs in Harveyville are met.”
