Congressman Partners With Salvation Army To Serve Those Affected By Tornado

Chattanooga, TN (March 5, 2012) - The Salvation Army continues to serve tornado-torn neighborhoods in Harrison.  TN 3rd District Congressman Chuck Fleischmann joined Salvation Army staff and volunteers to serve breakfast on this cold morning.  "The devastation is unbelievable.  The least that I could do is serve my fellow neighbors with such a fine organization like The Salvation Army," says Congressman Fleischmann.

The Greater Chattanooga Salvation Army has served continuously since the storms hit on Friday.  To date, The Salvation Army has provided 1,983 hot, nutritious meals, 1,995 hot or cold drinks, and prayed with 486 residents who were affected by Friday's brutal storms.  Lonnie, a resident in Harrison, whose home was severely damaged, welcomed a cup of hot coffee this morning and said that The Salvation Army was a "lifesaver this past weekend."  Debbie, another homeowner in the Harrison area, cried while hugging a volunteer who prayed with her.

The most efficient way to support Salvation Army relief efforts is to make a monetary donation.  You can make a donation by visiting www.csarmy.org, calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY, or by texting "storm" to 80888 for a $10.00 donation on your cell phone bill. 100% of your gift will go to the relief efforts.  For more information on the relief efforts following the historic storms on Friday, please visit www.disaster.salvationarmyusa.org and follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
