Ride the Rockies Crosses the Finish Line, Rallies Community Members’ Support

Denver, CO (June 14, 2013) – Tomorrow, 2,000 cyclists will triumphantly breeze past the finish line after their week-long Ride the Rockies trek. Their arrival at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs is an incredibly energized event expected to draw quite the crowd. And this year, the celebration will be coupled with an opportunity to rally community members around those impacted by the Black Forest Fire.

During the afternoon celebration, the event’s host, Cheyenne Mountain Resort, will honor The Salvation Army’s disaster relief efforts with a special gift designated to aid in the Colorado fires. The gift will be received onstage by Salvation Army Captains Tom Stambaugh and Eric Wilkerson, who are working tirelessly to provide food, hydration and additional aid to those impacted by the wildfire.

The 3,000 community members present will also be invited to donate their time and resources to The Salvation Army, the American Red Cross and Care and Share. Since the Black Forest Fire erupted Tuesday, these organizations have continually provided food, hydration, shelter and additional support to first responders and evacuees.
