The Salvation Army Responds as Waters Rise in Denver

Denver, CO (September 12, 2013 8:30 AM) – In the early morning hours, The Salvation Army responded to a Boulder County request to support shelter operations at the Mapleton YMCA following severe local flooding.

As of 5:30AM (MST), 200 people have sought refuge in a shelter in Lyons, and 50 people have taken protection in a shelter in Jamestown.  The Salvation Army’s Ft. Collins emergency disaster services team was placed on alert upon receiving this report and set to deploy to Lyons when roads open this morning.

The Salvation Army is currently working with the State of Colorado and Larimer County to develop a feeding and transportation plan as rain continues to fall across the area.
