The Salvation Army Continues to Serve Tornado Survivors in North Carolina

Charlotte, NC (April 29, 2014) - The Salvation Army continues to serve people in eastern North Carolina who have been impacted by eight confirmed tornadoes last weekend. The Salvation Army began providing breakfast, lunch and dinner to over 1,000 individuals on Saturday and Sunday and is prepared to continue serving until Wednesday. With more severe weather anticipated this week, the organization continues to coordinate with emergency management officials and other organizations.

“For those who lost so much, we’re here to step in and provide assistance to help them get back on their feet,” said Lt. Bruce Rabon, commanding officer in Washington, NC. “It’s our responsibility as an organization to live out its mission of meeting human needs in His name without discrimination.”

Monetary donations are the most critical need as supplies and personnel are mobilized. Donors are encouraged to give online at https://donate.salvationarmyusa.org/uss/april2014 or by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY (1-800-725-2769).
