The Salvation Army Deploys to Support Wildfire Relief Near Walsenburg, CO

Denver, CO (June 2, 2014) – Earlier this morning, Salvation Army emergency response personnel responded to a request for assistance following the outbreak of a wildfire near Walsenburg, CO.

The team deployed to Huerfano County to support first responders with meals and hydration as they battle the blaze.  “The Salvation Army will continue to care for the needs of Colorado’s first responders during this response, keeping our firefighters fresh and focused as they work to protect our community,” said The Salvation Army’s Divisional Commander Lt. Colonel Dan Starrett.

Today, The Salvation Army continues its legacy of supporting Colorado during fire season.  Last year, The Salvation Army’s disaster services personnel responded to more than forty disasters in Colorado alone.  During response efforts, the organization provided disaster relief to more than 110,000 first responders, law enforcement and evacuees.
