More Than 800 Meals Served In Response To Storms in Polk and McMinn Counties

Chattanooga, TN – Before sunrise, the Chattanooga and Cleveland Salvation Army staff organized its disaster relief team to serve neighboring counties. Public Information Officer, Kimberly George, received word from local Emergency Management Directors, who were assessing the damage from overnight storms that swept through their counties, that assistance was needed.  Polk and McMinn counties received the most damage in Tennessee and asked for The Salvation Army to provide food service to first responders and survivors.

In total, The Salvation Army served just over 800 meals to the Athens, Ocoee and Englewood communities.

The Salvation Army asks for your prayers for our neighbors in Polk and McMinn Counties. The Salvation Army also needs your support for the relief efforts with monetary donations at www.bit.ly/TNdisaster or by calling 1-800-Sal-Army, and asking your donation to be used for the Tennessee Storms.
