The Salvation Army Meeting Most Urgent Needs in Puerto Rico & Virgin Islands

San Juan - The Salvation Army determinedly continues to transport resources to devastated areas of Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands, impacted by one of the worst hurricane seasons in a decade. Each day, new partners of The Salvation Army step-in to assist the relief effort, providing key resources that meet the needs of survivors. We are grateful to our partners for the following:

  • NBA player, Carmelo Anthony, sponsored the delivery of 100 pallets of food and water for The Salvation Army’s distribution
  • Coca-Cola provided 2 containers for which The Salvation Army could transport resources and supplies
  • Feed The Children provided 450,000 meals for The Salvation Army’s local distribution
  • FedEx, UPS, and JB Hunt have provided charitable shipping utilized during Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria
  • CVS provided more than 30 pallets of water and 5 pallets of snacks for The Salvation Army’s distribution
  • Stop & Shop donated $25,000 to The Salvation Army’s 2017 Hurricanes’ relief fund
  • American Airlines provided 25 flights for disaster staff/volunteer deployments, of which were donated or heavily discounted

“The Salvation Army is truly blessed to have friends and partners that are essential members of the disaster team,” said Michael Orfitelli, Eastern Territorial Coordinator of Emergency Disaster Services. “The donations we receive from our corporate partners are life-forces to the dire need. We are truly grateful for their support.”
