Salvation Army Response Shifts to Emergency Assistance in West Virginia

Charleston, W.V. (July 11, 2016)—The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster response is shifting to emergency assistance beginning Wednesday July 13 and ending Saturday, July 16. Services will be provided in four locations in West Virginia—two in Clay/Kanawha counties and two in Greenbrier/Rainelle counties. Households impacted by the floods are encouraged to come to Salvation Army mobile feeding kitchens during service hours and receive a clean-up kit, hygiene kit, and food box. Households do not need to bring documentation to receive services. The Salvation Army is still providing food and hydration support through the mobile feeding kitchens.

Clay/Kanawha Counties

  • Queen Shoals Community Church
    Wednesday, July 13 and Thursday, July 14    10:30 a.m.— 4:00 p.m.
  • Downtown Clendenin
    Friday, July 15 and Saturday, July 16    10:30 a.m.— 4:00 p.m.

Greenbrier/Rainelle Counties

  • Park Center Shopping Center, 500 Park Center, Rainelle WV
    Wednesday July 13 and Thursday July 14  10:00 a.m.— 3 p.m.
  • Battleground Crossing Shopping Center, 1 Alvon Road, White Sulphur Springs WV
    Friday July 15 and Saturday July 16  10:00 a.m.— 3 p.m.

To date, The Salvation Army has served 33,007 meals and 53,763 snacks and drinks, staff members and trained volunteers have worked 2,855 hours of service, and provided 1,163 individuals with emotional and spiritual care.
