Louisville, KY –  The Salvation Army has trained staff throughout Kentucky and Tennessee monitoring the approaching severe weather.  Current forecasts predict wind and rain will impact communities across the two states.

Working closely with state and local authorities, Salvation Army staff are preparing should an emergency response be needed.  Acting ahead of the storm, canteens (mobile kitchens) and other response vehicles are being stocked and made ready should the worst happen.

“The Salvation Army has a network of trained staff and volunteers, along with a fleet of response vehicles to meet the need where we find it,” said Bo Sells, Kentucky & Tennessee Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Service Director.

This storm—already responsible for severe thunderstorms, flash flood warnings, and tornado warnings – is heading into our region beginning Thursday morning.  “Looking at the current forecast models, nearly every part of Kentucky and Tennessee could be impacted by the approaching storm,” Sells added.
