The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services Responds to Telegraph Fire in Arizona

PHOENIX (June 8, 2021) – In response to the Telegraph Fire burning in the southern edge of Tonto National Forest, The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) has set up canteens in Globe, Arizona, to provide meals to evacuees and first responders at the Red Cross shelter at High Dessert Middle School at 4000 High Desert Drive and the LDS shelter at 1701 Ensign Drive.

“Officials estimate that The Salvation Army could be serving up to 500 meals per day from this canteen, but we have the means to serve hundreds more, if necessary,” said Lt. Colonel Ivan Wild, Divisional Commander The Salvation Army Southwest Division, based in Phoenix. “We are also onsite to give emotional and spiritual support to the evacuees displaced from their homes and the brave first responders battling the blaze. As with all disaster situations, The Salvation Army will be in the community as long as needed.”

On Monday, the Army served 344 meals, 500 beverages and 200 snacks.

The Salvation Army is able to provide its Emergency Disaster Services because of the generosity of the community. To learn how you can donate, please visit SalvationArmySouthwest.org.
