The Salvation Army of Memphis & the Mid-South Responds to Tornadoes in Arkansas and Tennessee

Memphis, TN – The Salvation Army of Memphis & the Mid-South is responding to a series of severe storms and tornados that impacted the Mid-South, including areas of East Arkansas and West Tennessee, Friday evening. In Wynne, Arkansas, four people have been confirmed dead and dozens more reported injured as a result of a tornado that moved across the area Friday, March 31. The Memphis Area Command (MAC) responded to a request from the City of Wynne made through the Arkansas State Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Saturday to assist with relief efforts. The Memphis Area Command deployed a team of officers and volunteers along with its FedEx Emergency Disaster Services Mobile Canteen to Wynne, Arkansas, Saturday morning, April 1.

The team is prepared to serve up to 150 meals at the Technology Center for the Delta located at 1790 Falls Blvd, Wynne, AR on arrival. The Memphis Area Command will work closely with Wynne emergency response personnel to assess further relief needs. As this is an active response, information could change over the next 24 hours. The Salvation Army of Memphis will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves. Financial donations can be made at www.helpsalvationarmy.org or by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY to support response efforts. The Salvation Army of Memphis is encouraging monetary donations in lieu of in-kind donations at this time.
