Salvation Army Responds Across Arkansas After Damaging Tornadoes

Little Rock, AR (April 2, 2023) – The Salvation Army of Arkansas-Oklahoma continues its response to multiple areas in Arkansas after devastating tornadoes struck on Friday, March 31.

On Saturday, mobile feeding units from Central Arkansas, Hot Springs, and Northwest Arkansas provided food, hydration, and emotional and spiritual care in impacted areas in Little Rock today with close to 1,000 meals served.  On Sunday, an additional six canteens will be arriving from Muskogee and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, as well as Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Granbury, Irving, and Texarkana, Texas.  The Memphis Area Command served in Wynne.

On Sunday, meal service will be provided in Little Rock, North Little Rock, and Sherwood.  Roaming will occur in Jacksonville and Cabot to assess the need in those areas.  Additionally, services will continue in Wynne with the Memphis Area Command and a mobile feeding unit from Jonesboro.

The Salvation Army continues to work closely with local emergency management as well as Arkansas Department of Emergency Management and VOAD partners to assess the needs of the impacted areas.
