The Salvation Army Continues to Serve Those Affected by Flooding
Arkansas (May 4, 2011) – The Black River continues to be out of its banks and wreaking havoc on those areas along the river in Randolph County Arkansas. On Monday and Tuesday, it rose another two feet. It is expected to crest sometime Saturday morning.
The Salvation Army in Randolph County continues to serve workers, the National Guard, and others affected by the flooding in Pocahontas.
A host of volunteers, a Salvation Army officer, Captain Bobby Carr of Rogers, Arkansas, and a couple of employees serve off of the mobile feeding daily. The service began on Thursday of last week and will most likely continue through the weekend. To date, 3,140 meals have been served and 574 volunteer hours have been provided by local and visiting community members. Employees and Officers of The Salvation Army have put in well over 300 hours in the response effort.
Financial donations are critically needed to support disaster relief efforts. There are four ways to donate:

- Checks may be made out to “The Salvation Army Disaster Services” and mailed to PO Box 100339, Atlanta, GA 30384-0339. Monetary donations will ensure The Salvation Army can meet the most immediate needs of those impacted by disaster.
