Union, NJ (October 31, 2012) - With Hurricane Sandy having a far reaching effect on New Jersey, The Salvation Army is continuing to serve all residents of the state needing assistance. The Salvation Army has served at Shelters in 10 of the 11 Counties of New Jersey.
In addition to previous reports, The Salvation Army has responded to requests covering areas all over New Jersey including:
• The Salvation Army will be providing support to first responder in Freehold, New Jersey starting today.
• The Salvation Army’s Emergency Men’s Shelter in Perth Amboy, New Jersey will be adding additional cots to support the increased need for shelter.
• In Atlantic County, The Salvation Army has provided 3 meals a day as well as clothing at a special medical needs emergency shelter.
• The Salvation Army is now proving feeding at a shelter in Hunterdon County.
• Feeding, diapers, wipes, emotional and spiritual care were provided to over 240 people at a shelter set up in Teterboro, New Jersey.
• Feeding is taking place at The Salvation Army in East Orange New Jersey. This location is also providing over 400 meals to locations in Orange New Jersey.
• The Salvation Army of Western Pennsylvania has deployed a canteen to New Jersey to help support in Emergency Disaster Relief.

At this point, in-kind donations, such as used clothing and used furniture, are not being accepted for hurricane relief. However, these items are vital to supporting the day-to-day work of your local Salvation Army.
