The Salvation Army Continues To Serve Patten Towers Fire Evacuees

Chattanooga, TN (May 30, 2013) - The Salvation Army of Greater Chattanooga continues to serve residents displaced by Tuesday evening's fire at Patten Towers. Through lunch today, The Salvation Army has served over 1,800 meals and 2,700 drinks, and will continue to serve three meals a day at evacuee shelters throughout the weekend.

One Patten Towers resident stated, "Things could have been a lot worse.  We are so fortunate to have The Salvation Army here to feed us and keep us comfortable."

The American Red Cross states that 184 residents are currently being sheltered.  The Salvation Army will continue to serve with the Red Cross and other partnering agencies to help meet the needs of the evacuees through the weekend, and beyond as needed.  

Donations are needed to aid with disaster services and can be made by visiting www.csarmy.org or by calling 1-800-Sal-Army.  Monetary donations can also be mailed to 822 McCallie Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37403.
