The Salvation Army is Prepared! Are you?

Oklahoma City, OK – The Salvation Army Arkansas-Oklahoma Divisional Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) team wants to remind everyone that September is National Preparedness Month. Disasters can happen at any place and anytime and FEMA’s website, www.ready.gov, encourages all to Be Disaster Aware and Take Action to Prepare. We also want to encourage all families to learn more about how to Build a Kit and Make a Plan in the event of a disaster.

Do you know what type of disasters happen in your area? Do you know the steps to take should a tornado warning be issued? Flood warnings? Ice storm warnings? Heat Alerts? A wealth of resources are available at www.ready.gov to help you Build a Kit and Make a Plan for yourselves, loved ones and animals.

When making a plan, be sure to include all family members, including children so everyone knows evacuation methods, where to meet should you become separated, how to alert other family members you are okay, and more!

The Salvation Army of Arkansas-Oklahoma has a standby fleet of disaster vehicles and equipment including mobile feeding units, a Satellite Communications trailer and a Command trailer to respond during times of disaster. This fleet situated across Arkansas and Oklahoma equips our disaster teams to provide food, hydration, and emotional and spiritual care to impacted individuals and families. Salvation Army disaster teams stand ready to respond at a moment’s notice to either natural or man-made disasters.
