Jackson MS Provides Emergency Water to the City

Jackson MS (September 25, 2014) – The Salvation Army of Jackson Mississippi responded again to a call for emergency assistance from the city of Jackson Mississippi.  After a water main break downtown left thousands without water, The Jackson Salvation Army was able to supply the city with three full pallets of bottled water which is being distributed to those in need.

As the capital city, the area rarely sleeps, and this was obvious when thousands of individuals went to work in Downtown Jackson today realizing early on that they were going to be working the day without water.  Acting quickly, with no idea of when the water would be turned back on, Warren Miller, the emergency manager from the city of Jackson contacted the Salvation Army for help.  Thad Hicks, The Salvation Army’s Divisional Disaster Director advised, "The Salvation Army is always eager to support our partners including the great city of Jackson; we are glad we can help."  Jackson's emergency manager stated that the city would be monitoring the situation, and be back in touch with The Salvation Army if further resources were needed.  Area Salvation Army Administrator, Capt. Ken Chapman added, “We exist to serve the community, and if additional help is required, The Salvation Army will be there, ready to provide a cold bottle of water in Jesus’ name."
