The Salvation Army of the Carolinas Monitoring Disturbance in the Atlantic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (May 27, 2016) – A low pressure area located between Bermuda and the Bahamas has The Salvation Army of North and South Carolina closely monitoring weather conditions and making initial preparations for response along the coast of the Carolinas. In times of disaster, The Salvation Army of the Carolinas has 20 mobile kitchen unit canteens ready to respond to provide hot meals, cold drinks, snacks, and emotional and spiritual care to people affected.

“We have notified all mobile feeding units and corps across North and South Carolina to closely monitor the situation,” said Mike Patterson, Emergency Disaster Services Director for The Salvation Army of North and South Carolina. “The Salvation Army collaborates with emergency management at local, county, and state levels to be prepared if relief efforts are necessary.”

As the 2016 hurricane season begins June 1, The Salvation Army encourages all residents to review their family communication plan and prepare an emergency kit.
