Jackson, MS (08/04/2016) - Category 1 Hurricane Earl made landfall in Belize (Central America) early on Thursday morning, 04 August. The Belize Amateur Radio Club – the national society for amateur radio operators in Belize, has listed the International SATERN SSB Net on 14.265 MHz as one of the available frequencies for international assistance.
As a result, the International SATERN SSB Net has been moved to DELTA II status for Thursday, 04 August. Delta II status means that the Net frequency of 14.265 MHz will be monitored throughout the daylight hours for as long as radio propagation permits. This status does not include the International SATERN Digi-Net on 14.065 MHz for this event.
In addition, SATERN operators are also being asked to monitor the Hurricane Watch Net (HWN) on 14.325 MHz which is another frequency posted for international assistance by the Belize Amateur Radio Club. Net Manager Bobby Graves, KB5HAV, said, “We welcome this opportunity to partner with SATERN in the aftermath of Hurricane Earl.”
Unless conditions or activity warrant an extension, the SATERN Net will remain at DELTA II status only for Thursday, 04 August.
Questions should be directed to National SATERN Liaison Bill Feist, WB8BZH, at Bill.Feist@USS.SalvationArmy.org.
