The Salvation Army Mobilizes Canteens in Valley Park, MO and Arnold, MO
St. Louis, Mo. – The Salvation Army Midland Division is mobilizing The Salvation Army canteens on Saturday, May 6, 2017 to serve meals, snacks, drinks, and the occasional Band-Aid to emergency first responders, residents and volunteers.
A canteen is The Salvation Army mobile kitchen unit. The canteens will be at the following locations:
Valley Park, MO- St. Louis County Police West Precinct located at 232 Vance Road, Valley Park, MO 63088 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The canteen will be supporting first responders, residents and volunteers removing sandbags from Valley Park.
Arnold, MO- The canteen will be providing meals to first responders at the Pink Elephant gas station at 2599 Route 141. Meals will be given to emergency responders at 6 a.m., 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. Also, the canteen will also be mobile serving to residents at the Starling Community Trailer Court located on Starling Airport Road, Arnold, MO 63010.
In addition, Salvation Army canteens are also in Branson, Tecumseh and Cape Girardeau to assist with feeding and hydration efforts in Southwest Missouri and Southeast Missouri. The Salvation Army remains on standby to assist communities in Illinois.
Emergency Disaster Services staff and volunteers have three primary goals:
1.To address temporary hunger, hydration and emotional/spiritual needs of flood affected residents, emergency personnel and sandbaggers.
2. To address cleanup needs of flood-damaged homes with equipment and supplies.
3. To address financial needs created by recent flooding through individual financial assistance.
Multi-agency resource centers (MARCs) will be set up in the coming days and weeks to provide financial assistance, cleanup kits, etc., for those affected by the floods.
