Pulling Together To Support The Community
The Salvation Army has been one of several agencies who have pulled together to support the community. United Way’s 211 program provides free information and referrals to human/social service agencies, including The Salvation Army within Lee, Hendry, Glades and Okeechobee Counties. Clients can call and receive information and referrals appropriate to their needs.
“It’s a huge blessing to be part of a community where multiple agencies get together to provide assistance to those in need at this time,” said Major Cheryl Gilliam, Fort Myers Commander. “We really want to thank the United Way especially for getting the word out to the community through 211.” United Way’s 211 line provides information on needed services to the community including Salvation Army feeding locations and financial assistance for the long-term recovery.
United Way 211 exists to help people navigate their way through the maze of human and social services by providing resources for clients’ easy access to services of which they normally would not be aware. United Way 211 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
