Arkansas-Oklahoma Division of The Salvation Army to Serve on the Front Lines

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (August 29, 2021) – The Salvation Army of Arkansas and Oklahoma will be busy serving those affected by the effects of Hurricane Ida.   Multiple feeding units and crews are being deployed to help those affected by the hurricane.

The Salvation Army is already at work in many communities on a daily basis that have found themselves in the path of the storm.  Water, cleanup kits, food, and shelter supplies have been staged and are ready to be sent to the affected areas.  Mobile feeding units and crews are being deployed from the following Arkansas and Oklahoma locations:

• Central Oklahoma Area Command, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma is deploying a crew and feeding units.
• Enid, Oklahoma is deploying a crew and feeding unit.
• Hot Springs, Arkansas is deploying a crew and feeding unit.
• Ardmore, Oklahoma is deploying a feeding unit.
• Lawton, Oklahoma is deploying a crew and feeding unit.
• Altus, Oklahoma is deploying crew members to serve.
• Chickasha, Oklahoma is deploying a crew member to serve. 
• Tulsa, Oklahoma is deploying crew members and feeding unit.

From Laurie Fried The Salvation Army Arkansas-Oklahoma Division’s Director of Emergency Disaster Services: “We received the request to support our neighbors to the south on Saturday morning.  Within a few hours, we had identified resources and personnel that were willing to go serve on the front lines of those affected by this devastating hurricane. While we never wish to get the call, it is our honor to be able to serve and we are grateful to those deploying to serve in this capacity.”
