The Salvation Army Sarasota, Florida IMT Service Update

Sarasota, FL (October 20, 2024) – The Salvation Army continues to provide hot meals to survivors of Hurricane Milton with seven canteen teams serving in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. As power has been restored to most of Sarasota, The Salvation Army will continue to adapt its operations to best meet the needs of the community. In addition to serving survivors in Longboat Key, canteen crews also served first responders and construction workers on the island who arrived to assist with recovery efforts.

Regarding his experience on the canteen, Willie said “We’re all on the same team.” When responding to an event like Hurricane Milton, its all-hands-on deck and The Salvation Army is here to serve all in His name without discrimination.

In addition to food service, The Salvation Army is also providing emotional and spiritual care (ESC) to survivors. ESC specialists visit feeding sites throughout the day to offer a comforting shoulder, listening ear, and a word of prayer to those in need.
