The Baltimore area was hit with up to two feet of snow and ice, accompanied with dangerously low temperatures dipping below zero with wind chills. Working closely with City of Baltimore and State of Maryland officials, Social Services Director Nina Christian directed the efforts that escalated Salvation Army feeding programs to include delivery of hot meals, bag lunches, and hygiene kits to city-run warming centers and shelters. Over the past several days and into this weekend, staff and volunteers will have prepared and delivered close to 4,000 meals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ongoing mobile feeding program for the Central Maryland Area Command, the FEEDMORE canteen, traversed the streets of Baltimore providing warm drinks, food, and referrals to shelters for those in need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEach meal represents more than nourishment\u2014it represents dignity, hope, and a reminder that our community stands together,\u201d said Captain Jeremy Mockabee, Area Commander. \u201cAll of our staff, as well as advisory board members and community volunteers are sharing in our mission to uplift and care for our most vulnerable neighbors.
