{"id":11135,"date":"2020-02-27T18:12:00","date_gmt":"2020-02-27T18:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/salarmyeds.org\/?p=11135"},"modified":"2026-05-15T18:16:02","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T18:16:02","slug":"salvation-army-chaplains-provide-emotional-spiritual-care-following-molson-coors-shooting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/salarmyeds.org\/index.php\/2020\/02\/27\/salvation-army-chaplains-provide-emotional-spiritual-care-following-molson-coors-shooting\/","title":{"rendered":"Salvation Army Chaplains Provide Emotional, Spiritual Care Following Molson Coors Shooting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>MILWAUKEE COUNTY, WI &#8211; <\/strong>Chaplains with The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County are providing emotional and spiritual care to the first responders and Molson Coors workers after a shooting with multiple deaths on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Four chaplains were called to the scene by the Milwaukee Police Department around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday.<br><br>&#8220;Since Wednesday afternoon, Salvation Army chaplains, led by Pastor Alexis Twito, have been at the scene,&#8221; said Major Steve Woodard, Milwaukee County Coordinator. &#8220;They are providing comfort, prayer, a listening ear, and a loving and calm presence.&#8221;<br><br>In addition to the emotional and spiritual support, The Salvation Army brought in a canteen (mobile feeding truck) to provide a hot meal and coffee for the investigators who were working the scene in the cold weather.<br><br>The chaplains are among many organizations providing needed support in this difficult time. They will continue to support the police and community members until the need is met.<br><br>If anyone is interested in becoming a Salvation Army chaplain, training is being offered on March 21 and 22. <a href=\"https:\/\/disaster.salvationarmyusa.org\/training\/?classes&amp;state=WI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here for details<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>About The Salvation Army Chaplaincy Program:<\/strong><br>The Chaplaincy Program is a partnership between The Salvation Army Milwaukee County and the Milwaukee Police Department. The chaplains are called to critical incidents when police determine emotional and spiritual care is needed, including: homicides, drug overdoses, house fires, fatal accidents and
