Dallas, Texas<\/strong> (July 24, 2026) \u2013 The Salvation Army continues providing relief to communities impacted by recent flooding across South Texas. Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) teams are serving hot meals, providing hydration and distributing relief supplies while damage assessments continue in areas where floodwaters have receded. Additional flooding is expected over the coming days as rivers continue moving toward the Gulf Coast, and rainfall associated with Tropical Storm Bertha remains a concern through Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Communities including Cotulla experienced significant flooding Thursday, while several other South Texas communities are expected to face rising waters over the next five to10 days. \u201cThe situation continues to change as floodwaters move through additional communities,\u201d said Kathy Clark, Divisional Director of Emergency Disaster Services. \u201cOur teams are adapting our response to serve families wherever assistance is needed most.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Kerr County, the Kerrville Kroc Center continues distributing cleanup kits, hygiene products and food boxes to residents in and around Kerrville. Food service will be provided on an as-needed basis as community needs evolve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Uvalde and Zavala counties, the Southern Baptist Texas Convention field kitchen prepared 2,000 meals Thursday. Tyson Foods, local community groups and The Salvation Army continue providing hot meals throughout the affected area. Five mobile feeding units are serving residents in Sabinal, Crystal City and Uvalde. In Crystal City, more than 40 local volunteers were on site at Crystal Ballroom to support, including the mayor, city manager, city clerk, the varsity cheerleading team, constable\u2019s office, police department and sheriff\u2019s office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emotional and spiritual care remains an important component of The Salvation Army\u2019s response. A Southern Baptist Disaster Relief volunteer is accompanying one of The Salvation Army\u2019s feeding teams to provide emotional and spiritual care Thursday and Friday, while Salvation Army emotional and spiritual care specialists continue deploying with mobile feeding units to support survivors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The San Antonio Canteen prepared its final meal Thursday for residents staying at the Uvalde County Fairplex shelter, which closed Thursday as shelter operations concluded. The Disaster Assistance Center in Uvalde will remain open through Tuesday, July 28, where residents can receive assistance with recovery resources and other support services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Salvation Army continues closely monitoring conditions as Tropical Storm Bertha approaches the Texas Gulf Coast and moves inland. Emergency Disaster Services leadership is evaluating potential impacts on ongoing feeding operations and stands ready to adjust response efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
