{"id":12416,"date":"2018-10-27T16:24:00","date_gmt":"2018-10-27T16:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/salarmyeds.org\/?p=12416"},"modified":"2026-09-08T17:35:43","modified_gmt":"2026-09-08T17:35:43","slug":"inspirational-stories-from-the-salvation-army-in-south-georgia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/salarmyeds.org\/index.php\/2018\/10\/27\/inspirational-stories-from-the-salvation-army-in-south-georgia\/","title":{"rendered":"Inspirational Stories from The Salvation Army in South Georgia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>BAINBRIDGE, GA<\/strong> \u2014 After two weeks stationed in the southern counties of Georgia, Captain Claudia Roseno paused to reflect on some of the people she has ministered to along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During one evening outing with four canteens serving 1,200 meals, she met an older couple. While talking, they realized that Captain Reseno had served with their son on an earlier placement. During that time, The Salvation Army officers had been able to help him through a personal tragedy, and the Captain was able to follow up and receive a happy update. \u201cIt was just so awesome. The Army was able to be there for a tragedy in their life. Now, The Army is able to be there for a tragedy in their city.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Captain Roseno also spoke of her visit to the small, rural town of Damascus, GA. \u201cWe didn\u2019t even have an address. They told us \u2018Go to the gas station and ask for directions\u2019.\u201d From the gas station, they were sent to the fire station up the road. Waiting for them at the fire station where the Mayor and City Clerk as well as a group ready to unload the canteen and volunteers to dispatch meals to the town\u2019s elderly population. \u201cIt was a tiny, rural town without much, but they look after each other. It was a blessing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the Captain\u2019s favorite story was that of EJ, a nine-year-old boy she encountered in Blakely County. EJ walked several blocks to find the distribution point and ask if he could have supplies for his family. Captain Roseno was able to take the canteen into his neighborhood and visit his family. When EJ asked for some water, she handed him a case. \u201cHoly Moly!\u201d he exclaimed, \u201cI can have the whole thing?\u201d This sweet boy was overjoyed over a case of water. \u201cIt was so inspiring,\u201d Captain Reseno recalled, \u201cto see kids looking out for their families. It speaks to the need we have to build up the kids in these communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"credits-overlay\"
