The Salvation Army started distributing meals shortly after Hurricane Michael devastated the area and have been on site ever since providing much-needed resources and care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cUnfortunately, Mexico Beach has in some ways become the face of Hurricane Michael because the damage is so catastrophic,\u201d says Lieutenant Katie Bernabe, part of a trio of Salvation Army Officers from Maryland serving the area. \u201cWe\u2019re blessed to play even a small role in the restoration of this beautiful town.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The team, which also includes Captain Jonathan Howell and Lieutenant Chris Pachik, has connected with survivors and responders as they hand out meals to cars passing by each day from their mobile feeding unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe thought we were going to be the blessing for others in this community, but in turn, they have blessed us abundantly more than we could have ever imagined,\u201d says Lt.
