Panhandle counties still experiencing power outages, many who have been in the dark since October 10, The Salvation Army is there to serve these communities as they start the long road to recovery after Hurricane Michael.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Salvation Army staff and volunteers from across the United States, and even teams from Canada and Bermuda, have deployed to provide meals, supplies, and emotional and spiritual care to survivors and responders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLives are being touched, lives are being changed,\u201d says Major Ed Binnix, Incident Commander for The Salvation Army\u2019s relief operation in the Tallahassee area. \u201cThey\u2019re learning that there are people outside of their community that do care about them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Henry, a Salvation Army volunteer from Stuart, Florida feels like he\u2019s getting back as much as he\u2019s giving. \u201cIt blesses my heart to know we\u2019re helping this community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Salvation Army has deployed 45 mobile feeding units across the Florida Panhandle, and has served the following as of October 20, 2018:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meals \u2013 243,680<br>Drinks \u2013 146,426<br>Snacks \u2013 149,084<br>Emotional and Spiritual Care \u2013 17,495 people<br>Comfort\/Hygiene Kits \u2013 1,048<br>Food Boxes \u2013 1,884<br>Ice (bags) \u2013 1,909<br>Water (cases) \u2013 4,704<br>Hours of service\u2013 19,474<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
