Widespread power outages, significant property damage, and people finding they\u2019ve lost everything are what now plagues the Panhandle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One building not spared by the storm is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salvationarmyflorida.org\/panamacity\/\">The Salvation Army\u2019s Domestic Violence Shelter in Panama City<\/a>, where the ceiling collapsed after two trees fell on the roof. Staff and volunteers are working to ensure the families previously living in the shelter are safely housed and fed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re working through the challenges of little to no cell phone service, loss of electricity, and building damage to help our neighbors in need,\u201d says Major Otis Childs, Administrator for The Salvation Army in Panama City. \u201cWe\u2019re prepared for a marathon, not a sprint, knowing that recovery from this storm will take years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Salvation Army has 43 mobile feeding kitchens committed to serve in locations throughout the Panama City and Tallahassee area.
