People from different cities, different backgrounds, and different walks of life, many meeting for the very first time, have come together with one common purpose: to serve those affected by the hurricane and bring hope to communities in need.

These incredible individuals work countless hours, often with very little rest. They prepare meals, load supplies, operate mobile feeding units, travel to affected neighborhoods, and offer words of encouragement to families facing difficult circumstances.

Sometimes, in the middle of serving hundreds of people, they forget about their own needs. Meals are delayed, breaks are missed, and exhaustion becomes part of the day. Yet they continue to show up with willing hands, compassionate hearts, and a determination to make a difference.

They may have arrived as strangers, but through service, they are becoming a family.

The Salvation Army could not accomplish this mission without its volunteers. Their dedication is not simply helpful, it is essential. Every meal served, every family comforted, and every act of kindness reflects the generosity and commitment of those working tirelessly behind the scenes.

Disaster relief is not easy. The days are long, the conditions can be challenging, and the physical and emotional demands are real. But in the middle of the exhaustion, we witness faith in action.

We see people choosing compassion over comfort, service over convenience, and the needs of others over their own.

And while their dedication is extraordinary, we must also remember that those who serve need care, encouragement, nourishment, and rest. Their well-being matters just as much as the mission they carry forward.

The Bible reminds us in Galatians 6:9 (KJV):

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

To every Salvation Army employee and volunteer serving in Hurricane Isaias recovery efforts: You are seen. You are valued. You are appreciated.

Thank you for waking up early, working long hours, sharing your talents, offering your strength, and giving so much of yourselves to people you may never meet again.

Thank you for the smiles you bring, the meals you prepare, the prayers you offer, and the hope you restore.

Most importantly, thank you for answering the call to serve.

May God renew our strength, protect our teams, and remind us that even the smallest act of kindness can make an extraordinary difference in someone’s life.

We may be the hands delivering the meals, but God’s love is what fuels our mission.

Because, behind every disaster relief operation, there are ordinary people doing extraordinary things, with faith, compassion, and a heart for service. Thank you for being the hands and heart of The Salvation Army.

<p
