To date, the team has served more than 32,000 meals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very proud of the team,\u201d said Captain Paul Ryerson, Incident Commander for the Valdosta response. \u201cDuring a disaster we show up in a community we might not be familiar with and we all have to rally and be ready to go. This operation has gone successfully, and the mission is being accomplished.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An important part of the job is finding resources and building local relationships. A pivotal partnership in Georgia has been with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.camprockga.com\/\">Camp Rock Georgia<\/a>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sendrelief.org\/projects\/valdosta-ministry-center\/\">Send Relief Valdosta Ministry<\/a>, an organization committed to serving the community\u2019s large refugee population and protecting vulnerable families and children. They operate a home for children and foster families and run camps year-round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are Jesus\u2019 hands and his feet,\u201d said Valdosta Ministry founder Pastor Jay Watkins. \u201cWe bring a light and I\u2019ve heard several people comment they do not know who people are but they can often tell they follow Jesus by their kindness and their smile.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Camp Rock opened its doors and provided essential housing and meals for&nbsp;the Salvation Army Hurricane Helene disaster response team. They also provided&nbsp;much needed administrative office space for the Incident Command team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI just love serving God\u2019s people,\u201d said Pastor Watkins.<a>&nbsp;<\/a>\u201cThe Salvation Army has been a blessing to us and the community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to serving Army staff and volunteers, Camp Rock has&nbsp;provided thousands of meals to Valdosta residents along with shower and laundry facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCamp Rock has come in with a service mentality serving the community and us,\u201d said Captain Ryerson. \u201cPastor Jay has a spirit of humility and hospitality. It has been a joy to get to know him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe do this because we love it,&#8221; smiled Pastor Watkins. \u201cIt\u2019s our calling.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<div
