The local Salvation Army Corps in Charlotte County has assumed feeding operations for their jurisdiction. Yesterday, in addition to community locations and roving units, crews provided food at four comfort stations, one FEMA Help Center, and one POD with the National Guard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Operations Chief Dante Salgado stated, \u201cWe have adapted quickly to requests from local EOCs and our crews are working diligently to not only provide hot meals to survivors but to also provide emotional and spiritual care.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To date, the Sarasota operation has served nearly 20,000 meals and 6,000 snacks to Hurricane Milton survivors. Food service continues to increase as the Sarasota operation evaluates how best to meet community needs. In addition to food service, The Salvation Army is providing Emotional and Spiritual Care to disaster survivors in partnership with Southern Babtist Chaplin teams.
