This donation, given specifically for Hurricane Helene relief efforts, will help to provide recovery resources in affected communities.

When disaster strikes, The Salvation Army quickly mobilizes to provide food and drinks to survivors and rescue workers. After Hurricane Helene made landfall, The Salvation Army served over 452,000 hot meals and 207,000 drinks in their immediate response efforts. However, recovery can take years, and rebuilding communities and homes after such massive devastation will be a long process. As The Salvation Army works with government, charitable, and private-sector partners to assess the needs for long-term recovery, they will continue to provide critical support and essential resources to help those affected regain stability.

“In the wake of Hurricane Helene, we have witnessed entire communities destroyed and the lives of thousands upended,” said Jeff Jellets, Territorial Disaster Coordinator for The Salvation Army’s Southern Territory. “Recovery will be a marathon and not a sprint. Having these additional resources for the current response is a blessing that allows us to continue to serve and look toward ways to help the recovery process progress.”

Thanks to the generosity of the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation, The Salvation Army can continue to be a vital resource for those in need. We are deeply grateful for their support and belief in our mission

Atlanta, GA (Dec 19, 2024) – The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services has received a grant of $100,000 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation.
