They discovered a community in need and willing to embrace them as their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Employees in the store encouraged people to go out and get a meal. April, the manager beamed, \u201cso many people come in smiling and saying it\u2019s the first hot meal they\u2019ve had since the storm. We are so grateful to have you guys here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One recipient asked them to convey thanks to the rest of The Salvation Army team, and Major LaLanne offered a pad of paper on which they could write a quick note. Major LaLanne then set the pad down and continued serving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout the day, more and more people added their notes of thanks until the pad was almost full.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThank you for your generosity and service to our community. Thank God for people like you.\u201d<\/em> &#8211; Paul and Beth<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThank you so much. It\u2019s a blessing to see you all out here for us. We appreciate you so much.\u201d<\/em> &#8211; Kelly<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThank you so much. You don\u2019t know what this means to someone who can\u2019t even get into their house.\u201d <\/em>&#8211; Cindy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThank you for the help and the food. God bless, and you have a wonderful operation.\u201d<\/em> &#8211; Trent &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThrough the trials and tribulations we go through, God will never leave our side, and The Salvation Army works by God\u2019s side. Forever Grateful.\u201d<\/em> &#8211; Stephanie<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been amazing,\u201d said Hugo. \u201cThe storm didn\u2019t care if you were rich or poor. Without power, everyone needs to eat. People are crying, and we just listen. It\u2019s why we are here.
