{"id":6377,"date":"2022-09-29T19:58:00","date_gmt":"2022-09-29T19:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/salarmyeds.org\/?p=6377"},"modified":"2025-01-30T20:38:17","modified_gmt":"2025-01-30T20:38:17","slug":"the-salvation-army-georgia-responds-to-hurricane-ian","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/salarmyeds.org\/index.php\/2022\/09\/29\/the-salvation-army-georgia-responds-to-hurricane-ian\/","title":{"rendered":"The Salvation Army Georgia Responds to Hurricane Ian"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Atlanta, GA (September 29, 2022) &#8211;<\/strong> As the country watched\u00a0the images of the devastation Hurricane Ian has caused on the Western Coastline of Florida The Salvation Army moved immediately to provide shelter and food throughout Wednesday evening.\u00a0 As the sun rose this morning mobile feeding units and disaster volunteers disbursed immediately throughout Florida Coastline communities\u00a0serving survivors\u00a0and assessing\u00a0damage.\u00a0 Although Georgia is not currently experiencing harsh weather, the forecast indicates the following as Hurricane Ian tracks towards Georgia and the Carolina Coastline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Georgia will experience high winds this evening and Friday with gusts up to 55 mph with the southeast corner of Georgia also expecting water surges along the coastline.&nbsp; In anticipation, An Incicent Management Team (IMT) will deploy Friday, September 30, 2022 from The Salvation Army&nbsp;Disaster Warehouse located in McDonough, Georgia. Throughout the evening, the ICM Team will monitor Ian&#8217;s path and assess the need for communities throughout Georgia Saturday, October 1, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Salvation Army has 21 mobile feeding units and teams ready to deploy where many are already strategically placed in the Southeast corridor of Georgia.&nbsp; Disaster response teams initiated feeding to two shelters and emergency
