Frankfort, KY<\/strong> \u2013 In the wake of historic flooding along the Kentucky River caused by heavy rainfall from April 3\u20136, The Salvation Army has stepped in to provide immediate support to residents impacted by the rising waters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday, April 12, The Salvation Army of Frankfort received a shipment of nearly 200 cleanup kits from its divisional warehouse in Louisville. These essential kits\u2014filled with items like mops, gloves, bleach, and other cleaning supplies\u2014are now being distributed to local families working to recover from water damage in their homes and neighborhoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By Monday, April 14, The Salvation Army was actively serving on the ground in some of the hardest-hit areas, including Still Waters Campground off Strohmeier Road, downtown Frankfort, and the Big Eddy area. In just one day, local Salvation Army teams served 160 meals, 150 drinks, and 480 snacks to storm survivors. Additionally, 18 emotional and spiritual care contacts were made, offering comfort and prayer to those struggling with loss and uncertainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Captain Nathaniel Revaula, Corps Officer for The Salvation Army of Frankfort, has been leading local efforts and witnessing firsthand the extent of the damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve seen homes that were completely overtaken by the floodwaters\u2014many of them now abandoned and covered in mud,\u201d Captain Revaula said. \u201cPeople have been so grateful that we\u2019re showing up. Sometimes the most important thing we can give is hope, along with a hot meal and a listening ear.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since April 3, The Salvation Army has been responding across Kentucky and Tennessee, assisting communities affected not only by flooding but also by tornado activity. Trained disaster teams continue to deploy resources and support where needed, and The Salvation Army remains committed to helping affected families for as long as it takes to recover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
