{"id":7052,"date":"2022-05-08T18:11:00","date_gmt":"2022-05-08T18:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/salarmyeds.org\/?p=7052"},"modified":"2025-05-20T18:13:09","modified_gmt":"2025-05-20T18:13:09","slug":"the-salvation-army-supporting-communities-after-central-oklahoma-tornadoes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/salarmyeds.org\/index.php\/2022\/05\/08\/the-salvation-army-supporting-communities-after-central-oklahoma-tornadoes\/","title":{"rendered":"The Salvation Army Supporting Communities After Central Oklahoma Tornadoes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Shawnee, Oklahoma &#8211; <\/strong>The Salvation Army\u2019s Arkansas-Oklahoma Division continues to serve those affected by a series of tornadoes that touched down last week.\u00a0 \u00a0Several of the neighborhoods affected were not only hit by Monday\u2019s storms, yet again on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two mobile feeding units, one from Central Oklahoma Area Command, and one from Shawnee, Oklahoma continue to provide food, hydration, and emotional and spiritual care. Power outages continue to be a challenge, causing people to lose the perishable food in their homes.&nbsp; While serving one of the survivors, an older lady, when asked if she needed some lunch, she stated, \u201cWell, only if you can spare it.\u201d &nbsp;Others continue to be very appreciative of receiving not only a meal yet hope as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Salvation Army continues to work closely with first responders and emergency management at the local and state levels to ascertain what the needs are as response efforts evolve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Financial donations can be made at&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.helpsalvationarmy.org\/\">www.helpsalvationarmy.org<\/a>&nbsp;or by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY to support response efforts by using the Spring 2022 Severe Weather and Tornadoes designation.
