{"id":8659,"date":"2020-10-28T19:58:00","date_gmt":"2020-10-28T19:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/salarmyeds.org\/?p=8659"},"modified":"2025-08-20T20:00:02","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T20:00:02","slug":"salvation-army-of-georgia-readies-for-hurricane-zeta-inland-impact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/salarmyeds.org\/index.php\/2020\/10\/28\/salvation-army-of-georgia-readies-for-hurricane-zeta-inland-impact\/","title":{"rendered":"Salvation Army of Georgia Readies for Hurricane Zeta Inland Impact"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Atlanta, GA &#8211;<\/strong> The Salvation Army of Georgia stands prepared and ready to provide physical, emotional, and spiritual care to survivors and relief workers ahead of an anticipated impact from the remnants of Hurricane Zeta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After a predicted landfall along the Louisiana coast, the likely inland track of the of Hurricane Zeta will progress northeastward affecting northwest Georgia \u2013 including the metro-Atlanta area. Currently, a tropical storm warning has been issued for the metro-Atlanta area in anticipation of possible risks due to flooding, severe weather, and possible weak tornadoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In times of disaster, The Salvation Army traditionally serves and prepares meals from its mobile canteens, helps distribute cleaning supplies, and offers comfort to those impacted. In preparation of Hurricane Zeta\u2019s possible inland residual effects, a total of 20 mobile kitchens from Salvation Army locations across Georgia \u2013 with the total capacity to provide 15,000 meals per day \u2013 are being readied for service or mutual aid to other affected areas, should they be needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Salvation Army has a long history of serving in disasters, from hurricanes, localized tornadoes and flooding to long-term responses like 9\/11 and Katrina,\u201d said Lanita Lloyd, Director of Emergency Disaster Services for The Salvation Army of Georgia. \u201cWe have always been where the need is, and we will be there for those in need should the case arise from the remnants of Hurricane Zeta.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are very thankful to the volunteers who assist us in our relief efforts and for the many generous contributions of our supporters,\u201d says Lt. Colonel William Mockabee, Divisional Commander for The Salvation Army of Georgia. \u201cWithout their help we would not be able provide vital emergency disaster services for people in their time of
