The storm produced damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and potential tornadic activity.

On Wednesday evening, the Northeastern Health System Sequoyah (NHSS), the local Sallisaw hospital, contacted Captain Dakarai Darby, Fort Smith Corps Officer, seeking assistance with meals due to extensive damage to their roof and kitchen. The Corps started providing help on Thursday with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Captain Darby says, “Responding to a call for help means stepping into moments of chaos with steady hands and a willing heart by offering hope, comfort, and practical care when others are walking through their darkest hours, just as we witnessed at the hospital in Sallisaw.”

Eric Carter, Director of Operations, NHSS, says “This means so much to our team here knowing that The Salvation Army supports and cares about our community here in Sallisaw! Again, just want to say thank you for your help in a time of need.”

Meal service is expected to continue through Sunday, helping relieve an immediate need while the hospital works toward repairs.
