City Mill & Customers Donate more than $30,000 for Hurricane Relief Efforts

HONOLULU  – The Salvation Army recently received a check for $30,398.51 toward hurricane relief efforts. The check included customer and team member donations of $15,398.51 and a matching donation of $15,000 from City Mill Company. All eight City Mill stores and sister company, Simply Organized, participated in a fundraiser for Hurricane Harvey and Irma relief efforts at their check out registers from Sept. 15 to Oct. 2, 2017.

“We are blessed to have local companies like City Mill lead by example and step up to help those in need not only in our local island communities, but across the country,” said Major John Chamness, Divisional Leader for The Salvation Army Hawaiian & Pacific Islands. “During emergency disasters such as the recent hurricanes, 100 percent of designated gifts are used to support specific relief efforts.”

”We are overwhelmed by the support and generosity of our customers and team members to help those affected by the recent hurricanes,” said Steven Ai, President and CEO for City Mill and Simply Organized.  “The City Mill family of companies is thrilled to match the donations from the community in their generosity to help those in need.”

With a permanent footprint in the affected communities, The Salvation Army Disaster Services will continue to provide assistance until the need is met and beyond.

How People Can Help
Response efforts to this hurricane and flooding are expected be costly and last for years. The best way to help after a disaster is to make a financial donation.
