Oklahoma City, OK (November 5, 2022) – A strong storm system crossed parts of Arkansas and Oklahoma on Friday evening leaving destruction in its wake.  In Southeast Oklahoma, the town of Idabel was hit hard with close to 200 homes damaged or destroyed.  The Salvation Army of Arkansas and Oklahoma immediately went into emergency disaster response mode.

At the request of Emergency Management, members of an Incident Management team are in route to help coordinate the disaster response. The Salvation Army is partnering with Baptist Disaster Relief to feed the impacted area.

On Saturday, a canteen from Texarkana (Texas Division) assisted by providing meals, snacks, and hydration as they were closest to the area where the tornado touched down.  On Sunday morning, The Ardmore, Oklahoma Corps is deploying their Rapid Response Unit and a crew and will be serving lunch and dinner as well as providing emotional and spiritual care to first responders as well as residents affected by the storm.

Further details will be provided as additional assessments are made.   The Salvation Army will be working closely with Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) partners, first responders, emergency management at the local and state levels to ascertain what the needs are for emergency response.

Financial donations can be made at or by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY to support response efforts. For the latest Salvation Army disaster information please go to and watch for regular updates on our social media pages at and and
