Atlanta, GA: The Salvation Army’s Emotional & Spiritual Care Hotline (1-844-458-HOPE) is receiving multiple calls. Here is a quick snapshot:

A lady in Chohowinity, NC called the ESC Hotline, extremely distraught that she and her family were in poor health and had no food. Through The Salvation Army’s network the local Salvation Army Corps (church) Officer in neighboring Washington, NC contacted the family and learned that there were diabetics in the household. The Officer was able to prepare food boxes from the corps pantry, then went to the grocery store to get fresh vegetables, fruit, chicken and fish for the family. This was then delivered to the home.

In another call from a man from Daytona Beach, FL, the gentleman had left a voice message afterhours stating that he just could not go on any longer. The Salvation Army employee was able to speak with him, offer several referrals and at the end of the call, the gentleman was in better spirits and the tone of his voice had changed from desperation to hope.

In addition, on a call with a Salvation Army Officer yesterday, the Officer was able to pray with a caller where the lady had accepted Christ as her personal Savior.
