SILVERTHORNE, CO – In response to the East Troublesome Fire in the Grimes Peak Area, The Salvation Army will assist more than 250 evacuees by providing breakfast, lunch and dinner at three hotels where evacuees are being sheltered. Meal service began with breakfast on Friday, October 23. The Salvation Army will be operating from the Incident Command Center at Silverthorne Recreation Center, 430 Rainbow Dr, Silverthorne, CO 80498.
According to InciWeb, the fire began October 14, 2020 and has grown to more than 170,000 acres by Friday morning at 8:00am and is only 5% contained.
The Salvation Army is prepared to extend and expand services to evacuees and first responders as needed.
The Salvation Army is also responding to the Cameron Peak Fire by providing cleanup kits to survivors, deployed a 40KW generator trailer to power the first responder shower trailer, and is ready to expand response as needed.
