Jonesboro, Arkansas – A strong and deadly storm system crossed four states on Friday evening leaving heavy destruction in its wake.  One tornado tracked through parts of Northeast Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, and Tennessee with a path estimated at 100 miles long.  The Salvation Army of Arkansas and Oklahoma immediately went into emergency disaster response mode.

An Incident Management team is in route to help coordinate the disaster response. We are partnering with Arkansas Baptist Disaster Relief to feed impacted areas. The Jonesboro, Arkansas Corps is deploying their Rapid Response Unit. Captain Teri Smith, Corps Officer, will be on scene today providing snacks, hydration, emotional and spiritual care to first responders as well as residents affected by the tornadoes.

Further details will be provided after assessments are made on Saturday morning.   The Salvation Army will be working closely with first responders, emergency management at the local and state levels to ascertain what the needs are for emergency response.
