London, KY – In the continued effort to assist Kentucky families recovering from the devastating tornadoes that struck Pulaski and Laurel Counties on May 16, The Salvation Army of Kentucky & Tennessee has partnered with Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) through its Operation Sharing program to provide critical supplies to those in need.
On June 3, The Salvation Army donated tarps, personal hygiene kits, and a variety of storage totes to CAP, which will distribute the items to impacted households across the region.
“The Salvation Army is grateful for our ongoing partnership with Christian Appalachian Project, and we’re proud to come alongside them in this time of need,” said Lieutenant Judah Irvin, Corps Officer in Danville. “These supplies represent more than just physical support—they are a message of hope and care to those who are trying to rebuild. Working together with CAP allows us to stretch our impact and help more people recover with dignity.”
CAP expressed appreciation for the partnership and the much-needed resources. “We are grateful for the partnership we have had with The Salvation Army and the essential items they provided for tornado survivors,” said Ben Ridner, manager of CAP’s Operation Sharing program in Corbin, Kentucky, “This partnership helped meet immediate needs for families impacted by the devastating disaster and is a testament to the expanded impact organizations can have when we work together.”
The Salvation Army began its response to the May 16 tornadoes on May 17, with teams from Danville and Middlesboro providing immediate aid in Somerset and London. Response efforts have included serving hot meals and drinks, offering emotional and spiritual care, and providing financial assistance to households affected by the storms.
The Salvation Army’s ability to respond swiftly and compassionately is made possible through the generosity of its donors.
