Lutz, Fla., Oct. 31, 2025 — Yesterday afternoon, Thursday, October 30, a Jet Blue flight made an emergency landing at Tampa International Airport after experiencing an extreme drop in altitude that caused severe turbulence and injuries to some passengers onboard.

After safely landing, the passengers disembarked. Thirteen people were transported to local hospitals.

Airport emergency management contacted The Salvation Army of Tampa with a request to provide assistance to passengers. Officers and volunteers quickly deployed and provided emotional and spiritual care at the airport.

Major Mark Woodcock, Area Commander for The Salvation Army of Tampa reported, “We arrived within thirty minutes of receiving the call. We were able to visit with the passengers, and the good news is everyone was in good spirits, even those with children. As you can understand, this was a dramatic experience.”

Passengers able to continue their travel were booked on later flights.

” We were very grateful to have been able to meet the need to provide care following this incident,” Major Woodcock said.
