Oklahoma City, OK (March 10, 2026) On Saturday, March 7, The Salvation Army’s Central Oklahoma Area Command (COAC) attended and participated in the 10th Annual Severe Weather Awareness Expo at Penn Square Mall in Oklahoma City.
Attendees included responders, community organizations, and local businesses to promote preparedness and awareness ahead of the severe weather season. COAC’s Rapid Response Unit was on display outside the mall for attendees to view, parked alongside local fire trucks, police vehicles, news helicopters, and equipment from other partner agencies.
Inside the mall, COAC representatives hosted an information table, warmly welcoming visitors and sharing information about the many services offered through The Salvation Army. Programs such as social services, food pantry support, local thrift stores, and disaster response efforts were shared with visitors to the booth. Staff and volunteers also discussed training opportunities and the important role volunteers play in supporting neighbors in need.
Visitors to the booth were invited to participate in fun and educational activities at the table, including Salvation Army trivia for small prizes and giveaways. The team also distributed backpacks and connected with other organizations and businesses at the expo, learning more about the resources and services available throughout the region.
“It was truly a fulfilling day,” said representatives from the Central Oklahoma Area Command. “We enjoyed connecting with members of the community and our partner organizations, and we look forward to attending again next year while continuing to seek additional opportunities to serve and include the community.”
