Forged in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the partnership between The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services and Midwest Food Bank has spanned two decades. The program provides food, hygiene kits, and clean up kits to disaster survivors.
Donated non-perishable food products are supplied and boxed by volunteers in co-branded food boxes. These boxes can feed a family of four and are stockpiled in Midwest Food Bank warehouses around the country until needed for distribution by Salvation Army personnel.
From 2005 - 2023, Midwest Food Bank has provided...
145,600
Food Boxes
90,000
Hygiene Kits
4,000
Clean Up Kits
Midwest Food Bank started in a shed on a farm. Two brothers wanted to help ten food pantries in their local area in central Illinois. Twenty one years later, we are serving 2,500 food pantries...My goal is that we don't just make this a disaster relief partnership but an every day partnership, and we appreciate and we value our relationship with The Salvation Army.
